A dilemma....

On 14th February,my niece was born.I went to see her. While I was talking to my sister-in-law,I started telling about the new checklist for infants that I had recently received during my training.she did listen to me patiently but showed no keenness in my assertion on importance of the checklist,to keep a tab on proper growth of children and importance of early intervention and early diagnosis.I was little upset and later on I was smiling at her ..why?just because I understood that in our country till the trouble befalls a person they don't realize that they children are prone to so many disabilities.Every unaffected parent assumes very safely that they do not have a history or even worse they haven't done anything that their children may suffer from any problem.and God forbid,if anything happens then they are hit real bad...sinking into depression, listing out what wrong they might have done that their child is suffering like this..
I mean...its so shocking parents prefer to delve into unreasonable doubts after a calamity but they do not want to pay heed to signals which warn them well in advance.i got kabir diagnosed at 2 years and 8 months and I know how useful it proved for getting early intervention done.It has shown significant impact on kabir's achievements, growth and development.Being the hyper person and the kind of autism activist that I have turned into,I often give my advice unasked. So I was wondering if God forbid...any developmental problems occur with the children whose parents I have advised, will they hold me responsible? It may seem a strange fear or thought but I was just thinking what would I do if it happens .will I stop telling new parents what care they should take?on which milestones they should keep tab on?the thought was hard hitting...that night I was very uneasy but by morning I had decided that whatever may happen, being a special needs parent it is my duty to help new parents be aware of what precautions they should take.will see whatever happens in future...so the new parents,Mrs Counsellor comes forth to guide you..
